Permanent Home for the Organization Opening in Near Future

Fannin County Family Connection (FCFC) has received a major gift that will provide a permanent home for the community support organization. The generosity of the donors, who wish to remain anonymous, will enable the organization to provide vital services within the community for decades to come.

“A continued commitment to serving children and families in Fannin County is the cornerstone of our local Georgia Family Connection Collaborative,” said FCFC Executive Director Sherry Morris. “Having a permanent home will enable us to increase our capacity to honor that commitment— and to be better stewards of the funds we receive. We are grateful to our investors, who support our mission to help our communities thrive.”

The new FCFC location will be at 501 Industrial Park Road, just a quarter mile from the current leased facility at 101 Fannin Industrial Park. It is larger and configured in a manner that provides room for all Family Connection services with additional space for future expansion. Renovation plans include remodeling a 2,500-square-foot meeting room that will be available for other community organizations to use and an expanded Food Pantry area that will accommodate more reserves of food for those most in need.

Though the building is a gift, FCFC is responsible for renovating the facilities. Fannin County Family Connection is asking the community to get involved by volunteering labor for the building renovation and donating materials or funds.

Work groups will begin on Friday, August 16, and will be in force every Friday and Saturday through September.

“As a Fannin County native and FCFC Board member, I cannot adequately express how grateful I am to our anonymous donors who have made it possible to secure a permanent home for the largest charitable organization in our community,” said Cathy Cox-Brakefield, chair of the volunteer Board of Directors. “Since Fannin County Family Connection was established in September 1998, the Collaborative has been housed in three leased locations throughout the community. The gift of a permanent home is one of the most exciting events to happen in the FCFC Collaborative’s 21-year history.”
